The TAC-20 is a full cartridge design. It is a single stationary multi-spring seal with a four-bolt stuffing box arrangement. The TAC-20 has the same internals as the TAC-11 but includes the four-bolt arrangement as well as a flush port. The addition of the flush port allows for API flush plans such as a plan 11, 13, 21, 31, 32, and 41. All of AR Thomson Groups ANSI mechanical seals are balanced seals and feature monolithic faces, thermal management technology, and stationary spring designs.
Monolithic faces have proven to be more resistant to distortion from higher temperature or pressure applications. The thermal management technology removes heat from the faces and distributes it to other areas of the seal and stuffing box. This removal of the heat allows for some intermittent flow of liquid between the faces (dry running). Stationary spring designs are self-aligning and allow for some alignment issues and improper installation.
The TAC-20 design is excellent for process pumps, clean to light slurry, water/wastewater, and irrigation systems. The seal is lightweight and economical. It is available in many different metallurgies, elastomers, and face combinations to meet the specifications of your application.
Retrofits virtually all pumps such as: Goulds, Durco, Bingham, Sulzer, Ahlstrom, Worthington, Nash, Hayward-Gordon, Moyno, Wemco, Canada Pump, Viking, Weir, Cornell, A-C, Taco, IDP, etc.
The TAC-20 has a maximum pressure rating of 300 psig (21 bar), a temperature range of -40°F to 400°F (-40°C to 204°C), and a maximum shaft speed of 5000 fpm (25 m/s).
